Band Review: Better Things

Better Things is a band out of Burlington, Vermont. They list themselves as alternative/punk, but one reviewer heard some resemblance to ska.

I would probably just say rock, based on the strong guitars and the energy. There are some moody overtones that make the argument for being more alternative, but the overall energy is still high, like punk. It seems that the band made the correct call.

Better Things has a 4-track digital album available via Bandcamp, as well as another song, "Hindsight 20/20", for which there is a video. It was in watching the video that I noticed how effectively the band uses the voices of multiple members to give appropriate strength to the song. I believe their unity is the key to the energy they are able to achieve.

"Hindsight 20/20" may be their most traditionally rock song, but check out "Asphyxia" for the raw yearning.

These Roads Lead to Nowhere can be purchased on Bandcamp, and Better Things has several East Coast dates scheduled for the rest of the month.

I like them.
